THE BACK STORY

My name is Maria Tran and I’m a dynamic creative multi-tasker as an educator, independent filmmaker, and actor working between Western Sydney and Las Vegas.

The journey to the creative industries has been an unconventional one as, during the days of studying for a  degree in Psychology, I was making little fun short action films in the local parks more than 15 years ago with my buddies.

Flash forward to 2022, after working with at-risk migrant communities & the community arts sector, acting on various TV shows on Australian TV, and moving to the US during the pandemic, my passion for completing a feature-length action film on no budget has been unwavering.

Echo 8 is a completed feature-length action thriller movie, a passion project driven by the local filmmaking community of Western Sydney.

This film is a first of its kind; it will be Australia’s first independent female-led action movie that is made possible by the community (your mums, dads, kids, neighbors & businesses) who have all relentless band together to create this.

Completing a 90-minute film during COVID is a big achievement and we could not have done it without our community, cast & crew who have put in so much of their energies and time that we want to get this movie onto a cinema screen as well as throughout the international film festivals in 2023.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Completing a film is challenging, but we have a completed film that needs your support to make accessible to our audiences from local to international.

The team that has made Echo 8 happen is the crop of cutting-edge independent filmmaking in Australia and has created a sleuth of award-winning films, TV & web series, documentaries, and corporate videos.

Instead of shelving this film on completion or screening the work in the filmmaker's loungeroom, we want to use the funds raised to go towards marketing our film; from creating collateral material, holding FREE screenings & filmmaking workshops in Sydney, to seeing this film travel and compete in many film festivals all over the world.  We are looking to raise $5,000AUD ($3,846USD) to cover the cost of this and every $$$ counts.

That's where you come in. You can visit our Indiegogo Campaign to find out more and support us there!
